Crafting an Effective IT Recruitment Strategy?
A recruitment strategy to serve everyone
In a week that saw Valentine’s Day come and go, you can see a connection between the how that special day and recruitment share a connection. two y and I certainly love recruitment. They can both bring those connected even closer and they share an ability to connect complete strangers.
Following on from previous posts, I’ve been thinking about the agenda’s of both Candidates and Hiring Managers. Each party will both have a strategy and will certainly be mindful of what good can look and sound like. Here are a few examples of what companies need to consider and what job seekers are looking to identify with. Get this right, and you’ll both achieve the match that you’ve been looking to find.
- Understanding Organisational needs
Identify the skills and expertise required for your organisation. - Employer branding
Develop a clear employer brand that reflects your company’s culture and values. - Diverse Sourcing Channels
Leverage diverse sourcing channels to reach a wider pool of potential candidates. - Optimising job descriptions
Create job posts that clearly state the job duties, requirements, and what’s in it for the candidate. - Robust selection process
Implement a robust selection process that emphasises both technical skills and cultural fit. - Candidate experience
Ensure a positive experience for candidates throughout the recruitment process. - Use of Technology
Invest in an applicant tracking system or other recruitment software to streamline the process. - Social media Recruiting
Utilise social media platforms like LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter to find highly-skilled candidates. - Job adverts on Niche and relevant sites
Consider posting job ads on sites like GitHub or StackOverflow, which have strong developer communities. - Inclusivity and Diversity
Make your strategy more inclusive and aligned with developing teams that are diverse and can create innovative solutions.
Whether you are hiring or job searching, these elements will have a knock on affect to what you do next and what the overall outcome will be. Are you getting it right? Do you have examples of when this has gone right and wrong for you?
Let’s see if we can use this post to bring two (or more) people together… We look forward to seeing your comments.
