Remote & Midlands based

Technical IT Consultant

Up to £50,000 + car + bens

Must hold a full UK driving Licence

A new role is available with this Leading IT services company and MS Gold Partner. You will be responsible for working with people to implement the best fit for purpose IT solution. You will provide consultation to a variety of clients across the Midlands area with very occasional travel further afield.

Typically, you be involved in:

  • Design and deployment of new systems
  • Must ensure teams follow the correct procedures, policies and documentation requirements across project phases
  • Able to guide the team through the development, testing and implementation stages and review the completed work effectively
  • Provide direction and technical expertise in design, development and systems integration
  • Able to make quick decisions and solve technical problems to provide an efficient environment for project implementation
  • Identify resource and equipment requirements, efficient capacity planning and manage software and hardware availability
  • Planning, budgeting and reporting on projects ensuring management are kept informed of project statuses
  • Meet with client teams and gather requirements, conduct regular team meetings and track project progress
  • Assisting the Sales team in technical pre-sales design and solution design
  • Estimate project budgets, coordinate with sales department for funds and plan for purchasing of equipment and hardware in a cost-effective way

Ideally, you will have accumulated a host of skills in areas such as:

  • Microsoft Windows Server 2003/2008/2008 R2
  • Microsoft Exchange Server 2003/2007/2010
  • Active Directory Configuration and Administration
  • Small Business Server 2003, 2008 & 2011
  • All Windows Desktop Operation Systems from XP to W8
  • Firewall Technologies and Configuration (ideally Watchguard or Cisco)
  • VPN Technologies
  • Trouble shooting and diagnostic experience via logs and reports
  • DHCP/DNS/WINS/TCPIP/GPO
  • Microsoft Office Applications 2003 to 2013

If you have secured any accreditation or formal training, that is going to be a distinct advantage.

This could include:

  • Educated to Microsoft MCSA/MCSE or equivalent accreditation
  • Citrix (ideally XenServer, XenApp or XenDesktop)
  • Hypervisor Technologies Hyper-V & VMware
  • Office 365
  • Microsoft Exchange 2013
